We would like to say a special Thank
you to the Plymouth South High School Hockey team. Since he passed away Mike
McGosh and his coaching staff have been so kind to my family. Not ever meeting
each other, Mike showed class and integrity by honoring Sean's memory and our
family. The season of 2006/2007 shirt number #14 was pulled from the roster.
This shirt as draped over the bench for each game that season.
At Christmas time a toy drive was
organized by the team. Toys and money were collected and donated to the MPG local
drive. The donation was made in Sean's memory.
The kids on the team put the number
14 on their helmets to honor Sean's memory.
In October of 2007 Sean's #14 shirt
for the Mite A team was retired at the Plymouth rink. Mike McGosh was there
along with the boys from the team the previous year.
In 2007,2008,2009, the coaching
staff have golfed at Sean memorial golf tournament. We are so happy to see them
each year.
Polar Plunge- Winter 2009- Steven
Whyte on the South hockey team challenged his team mates to plunge for Sean. We
had the entire team come to Plymouth Beach and all take the plunge for Cancer.
We received a trophy for the youngest team, and are very happy to say we raised
over 2 thousand dollars for cancer.
2009- We asked the Plymouth South
Hockey Team to work the tournament. We also invited the Jr. Panthers Jr. High
hockey team to volunteer their time and work the tournament. These kids carried
golf bags, worked different holes, supervised younger kids playing golf, and
worked a hole with Brad Park.
2010- Plymouth South Hockey team took the plunge with us once again. They braved the cold day and the very cold water. They dressed in their tropical attire, and South hockey sweatshirts. This is a classy group of boys and we feel honored to have them on our team. We also had Emily Clines plunge with us. Matthew Clines was the 1st child with a hardship to receive assistance to continue playing in a youth hockey program. Emily Clines is presently in remission from being diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was also the first person to take the plunge in a wheel chair. This years plunge was very special for many reasons. We won the most original team and Patrick won the youngest plunger for the 2nd year.
2009 golf tournament continued:
We were told by many how respectful
and polite all the kids on the course were. We were very proud to have all of
these kids and they should be proud of themselves. Plymouth South High School
Hockey and Plymouth South JR hockey team rock.
